The Indoor Bowls Club Rotterdam was founded in 1991 in Kralingen, moving to Ommoord around the millennium. Since then many have enjoyed playing bowls here. Not only the sporting results are important, but also the friendly atmosphere and social contacts.
Bowls is a sport, played on long mats. The object of the game is to get the bowls (woods) as close as possible to the smaller white ball (the Jack). It looks simple but the bowls are made with a bias and follow a curved path, the curve becoming stronger as the speed of the bowl decreases. It is a game of concentration, self-control and tactics.
Bowls is a sport for all ages, played by anyone from young to old. Often people having played other ballgames seem to like this game.
We play at the Wion-hal,
Max Planckplaats 300
a few minutes walk from the metrostation Binnenhof.
Times of playing:
Tuesday afternoon from 13.45 to 16.00
You are welcome to join us in a free game to find whether the sport is to your liking. To avoid damage to the mats you need shoes with a soft, clean and flat sole. If required plastic overshoes are available.
